We are pleased to share the completion of this commercial solar installation at Lamtek.

The project brings a 400 kW solar PV system into operation, designed to make full use of the available roof space and support steady daytime energy demand across the site. The result is on-site generation that now plays an active role in day-to-day operations.
The commercial case
- A projected payback of 3.6 years
- Lifetime bill savings of around £1.2m
- An internal rate of return of 30%
- 78% of the site's electricity bill offset
Those figures place this firmly in asset territory rather than add-on spend.
The environmental outcome
The system is expected to save 67 tonnes of CO2 each year, the equivalent of planting 3,045 trees annually. Across Lamtek's wider estate, and alongside their certified zero-carbon electricity supply, the combined saving reported by the Lamtek team comes to 140.2 tonnes a year.
Thanks to the Lamtek team for the collaboration and clarity throughout the project.
What scale looks like on a roof
It is easy to talk about system size in kilowatts. It is more useful to see what that actually looks like in practice. Large roofs, when designed properly, can do a lot of quiet work in the background.
At this scale the design work matters disproportionately. Layout, access, spacing and long-term maintenance all shape how well a system performs over time, and a tightly packed roof that looks efficient on a drawing can be an expensive place to work for the next twenty-five years.
Solar works best when it becomes part of how a site operates, not something bolted on afterwards.
